Things are going to get very meta on "Outlander." Former "Doctor Who" companion Frazer Hines will guest star on an episode of the show's first season, TVGuide.com has learned.
Hines played Jamie McCrimmon, a Scottish companion to the Doctor, between 1966 and 1969. "Outlander" author Diana Gabaldon has said she was inspired to write the book while watching an episode featuring Hines. In fact, she named the male lead in her series Jamie Fraser, after both the actor and character.

In the "Outlander" episode, Hines plays the warden of Scotland's Wentworth Prison, Sir Gordon Fletcher. He encounters Claire when she claims to be a relative of Jamie's. The episode will be part of the second half of Season 1, which premieres in early 2015.©
