>> Sarah: welcome To Twilight Live@Much! This is one of the biggest crowds in the history of MuchMusic.
[CHEERS]
We are going to be hanging out with the cast of "Twilight" for a full hour and some of these crazy fans have been here for two days. The cast is on their way right now, but Tim Deegan is somewhere in the middle of this craziness. Tim Deegan, what's happening?
>> Tim: Sarah, you are not lying when you say "crazy". It is pandemonium out here. I can't describe it. Who are you most excited to see?
>> Robert! Robert!
>> Tim: Robert better bring with him some security. Sarah, back to you.
>> Sarah: Thank you very much. Are you guys excited?
[screaming]
>> Sarah: I was just checking to make sure you guys were really excited about this. Like I said, some of the fans have been here for two whole days waiting out here with marriage proposals, people sleeping on the streets.
[cheers]
>> Sarah: the cast of "Twilight" is on their way. They are almost here. They're arriving -- I see the car. Stepping out, Nikki reed, and they are making their way down the carpet right now. There's Kristen Stewart, our Bella. And Robert Pattinson!
[cheers]
[crowd chanting "Robert"]
[SCREAMING]
>> Sarah: Robert, Kristen, Nikki. You guys are going to get a lot of opportunities. We'll take some photos with the cast, sign some autographs. I've got to grab you. Come upstairs with me. Kristen, Robert, Nikki. This is totally crazy. Welcome to MuchMusic.
>> thank you. Can I just say as a montrealer how amazing it is to be in Canada!
[cheers]
>> Sarah: this crowd is absolutely crazy. Some of these people have been waiting here for two days.
>> I know, man. That blows my mind.
>> Sarah: Canadian fans are totally insane. Nikki, come up here.
[cheers]
>> Sarah: welcome to MuchMusic.
>> what?
>> Sarah: welcome to MuchMusic.
>> thank you.
>> Sarah: how are you?
>> hi.
>> Sarah: it's a little bit crazy.
>> I think I've gone deaf.
>> Sarah: Robert Pattinson, Rachelle Lefevre, Nikki Reed and Kristen Stewart, the cast of "Twilight"! Are you all right? It's crazy. All right. We're going to come back out, but right now we're going inside. Come with me. Let's go inside. This is crazy.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: just follow the splatters of blood down the walkway. Have a seat. Come on up here! Rachelle, Robert, Nikki, come on. You guys are going to get mobbed by this crazy crowd. I have to rescue you. Come on up here.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: I know. Guys, it's only an hour show, so I have to try and rescue you from the mobs of Canadian fans. Welcome to MuchMusic. Where --
[screaming]
>> Sarah: where did this come from? I have to ask you --
>> where do we come from?
>> Sarah: no, I mean, I think I feel like a lot of people feel like "Twilight" came out of nowhere and now it is the biggest most popular thing in the world. Where did it come from? Tell me about the history?
>> well, I'm really only Involved -- I sort of feel the same way you do. I signed onto the movie having no idea about this kind of stuff.
>> Sarah: Robert?
[screaming]
>> whoa.
>> Sarah: if that's uncomfortable, just jam it in.
>> do I what? Get used to it?
>> Sarah: do you get used to this kind of attention?
>> oh, no, no.
>> he's already used to it.
>> it's just bizarre. Feels like my job now. I go to different places now and people scream.
>> Sarah: it's one of those things. Did you have any idea that "Twilight" would be this
popular?
>> I don't think any of us did. None of us expected this.
>> that's a collective no.
>> Sarah: it's totally crazy. I want to ask you a little bit about your characters. I want to know how intimidating it must have been to take on a role that's so beloved by so many people.
>> well, I had no idea it was beloved by so many people. It's a strange thing to have
something so personal and to care about something so much individually and then become aware of it halfway through you're already starting the project. So, you know -- I care about the book as much as everybody else.
>> Sarah: yeah. Were you into the book, Rachelle, before it was made into a movie?
>> I read "Twilight" before the audition and I didn't wait to find out if I got cast or not, I read the whole series. I'm definitely a fan.
>> I read the books in rehearsal. That's when I fell in love with them, like all of you guys.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: that's the crazy thing about "Twilight." It's not just young, crazy ladies. It's young men and all ages. We have a clip of the film. Let's take a look at "Twilight."
[screaming]
>> Sarah: all right. So that is one of my favourite clips in the movie. It's pretty romantic.
I really love it. Are you guys all hopeless romantics? Robert?
>> uh, yeah. You get -- you know, I am. I'm completely hopeless. I'm definitely hopeless.
>> Sarah: completely hopeless?
>> Yeah, in every aspect of romance.
>> Sarah: you look a little scared. Have we scared you?
>> it's like a safety blanket.
>> Sarah: that's o.k. It's fine. We'll protect you. Julia is in the audience and wants to ask you guys a question.
>> I think you're absolutely gorgeous.
[screaming]
>> who?
>> you. But my question is for Kristen --
[laughter]
>> Sarah: sorry.
>> I just want to say, how does it feel being the girl that every girl wants to be because I know I want to be you.
[screaming]
>> uh, it sort of isn't even like a real concept in my mind at all. You know, Bella is like every girl. Every one of you could have played her. I don't know. I don't know.
>> Sarah: it is one of those things where I think it's interesting because bella is human.
She's actually not, you know, a vampire, doesn't have superpowers but she's like a
Superhero. She's a really strong girl.
>> to subject yourself to somebody isn't a weak thing. A lot of feminists groups have
problems with us.
[screaming]
>> it takes a lot of power to give that power to somebody and trust your gut. That's an innately female quality.
>> Sarah: yeah. I want to know a little bit about your casting. There's been so much hype about casting all of you, but casting especially Edward was a big, big deal.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: I think there's been talk about how over thousands of actors, you were the one that had the perfect combination of beauty and danger.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: how much of that comes from you and who you are?
>> I don't know. I have never really seen myself as being either to be honest. I thought maybe I was dangerous to myself but not really to anybody else.
[screaming]
>> it's bizarre. I really -- it's so funny. It's like last year you can't get a date. This year the world turns and everybody -- the definition of attractiveness has just been redefined.
>> redefined the definition of attractiveness.
>> yeah.
>> Sarah: after all of this happened, do your friends and family look at you differently?
>> a lot of my friends -- they're all dazzled by me now. They've seen the light.
>> Sarah: also, too, another director was talking about how casting Bella was crucial to the movie, but she didn't hesitate at all about casting you to play the lead. What do you think about you was perfect?
[CHEERS]
>> that's a completely unanswerable question. I don't know. we just spent like four hours in this room hashing over all the scenes and we couldn't stop talking about it. maybe she saw enthusiasm. I don't know.
>> Sarah: it just worked out. we're going to play a game now. we have a couple of super
"Twilight" fans. they have been waiting here for days and they can't wait to see the movie. we're going to play a mad minute of "Twilight" trivia with you guys and these two contestants. so I've got cards for you with questions. Kristen, that's yours. Robert, that's yours and pass these on to Nikki and Rachelle. these ladies want to battle it out.
>> so we don't have to answer the questions?
>> Sarah: no. you have to ask the questions. you're the experts. in a minute we'll see how many questions you can answer correctly. we'll go one by one. Kristen? do you want to start? let's start the clock. ready?
>> yeah.
>> Sarah: o.k. three, two, one.
>> thifl, these are easy. what is belle's father's name?
>> Charlie.
>> yes.
>> Sarah: Robert?
>> since Edward can't eat Bella, what does he eat instead?
>> animals. like bears, wolves.
>> ducks.
>> mountain lions?
>> Sarah: next question.
>> how many kids in the Cullen family?
>> six. five. five.
>> I can't hear.
>> who is Victoria's mate?
>> James!
>> who is the better dancer? Edward or Bella?
>> Edward.
>> Sarah: yes.
>> what is it about Bella that Edward finds irresistible?
>> her eyes --
>> skin. everything.
>> I thought you read the book.
>> smells good. her blood.
>> Sarah: that's it.
>> beautiful eyes?
>> Sarah: Virginia, you're the winner. congratulations. here's the thing though we're
going to give you both passes though because it was so loud.
>> thank you!
>> Sarah: do you know all the questions on there? you can keep them if you want to.
they're kind of easy. we tried to make it a little bit difficult. we're talking about how your
lives have changed and the fans are crazy -
[screaming]
>> Sarah: they're so in love with you guys. you were talking in an interview about one of the defining moments of how crazy "Twilight" has been is when your mom called to tell you she saw you on Perez Hilton.
>> oh, yes. one of.
>> Sarah: it's one of those defining things appearing on Perez Hilton. since he's a huge fan.
we decided why not do a formal introduction? so we have Perez Hilton live on web cam.
>> hello. can you see me?
>> I can see you. I can't hear you.
>> where are you?
>> I'm in my closet. I just came from the gay rights rally in Los Angeles. I couldn't miss this.
>> I love your t-shirt.
>> we love your shirt.
>> I'm waving to you. this is Nikki. I see you.
>> yeah, I can't see you. but I have to say I kind of am fascinated by the whole "Twilight" phenomenon, especially because the movie hasn't even come out yet. I would venture to say that safely at this point in time Robert Pattinson has a bigger, crazier effect over the ladies than even Zac Efron.
>> than who?
[screaming]
>> Sarah: so I don't think you're helping Perez. you're making the "Twilight" phenomenon bigger. day by day.
>> I have to ask. I was sure the girls, ladies and maybe -- is Robert Pattinson single? is he dating anyone?
>> what?
>> Sarah: are you dating?
>> I'm dating her. [points to audience member]
[cheers]
>> that's a non-answer. answer honestly.
>> um, no.
>> Sarah: thanks for calling in Perez Hilton. we'll see you later. thanks, Perez.
>> my pleasure. bye!
>> bye.
>> Sarah: all right. we're going to go and brave the queen street window to say hello
to fans. want to come with me? you can come. I know. it's kind of chilly. these fans have been standing out here waiting, hoping to get a glimpse of the cast of "Twilight." sign some autographs and when we return we'll discover the love on set of "Twilight." and I'm going to tell you exactly who is the best kisser after this.
>> Sarah: welcome back to Twilight live@much. all right. we're outside but it's covered.
we thought we might call in some rain for you guys because we heard when you were shooting "Twilight" there was a lot of rain. there was a lot of bad weather. not a lot of sun.
after all, vampires can't go out in the sun, right?
>> well, they can, but they would be very noticed.
>> Sarah: exactly. I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about love. so the chemistry between Bella and Edward is completely crucial to the movie. it's the central story and you have amazing on screen chemistry. what was it like the very first rehearsals for the kissing scenes?
>> do you want to answer it?
>> we didn't really do a rehearsal, I don't think.
>> Sarah: you didn't rehearse that?
>> no.
>> the one thing that needed to be specific was that it's not a typical make-out scene.
you can't touch him without -- it's literally. there needed to be a responsiveness that needed to be solid.
>> Sarah: was it awkward the first time you did it?
>> it's awkward doing the blocking and stuff. I don't know it's a weird scene.
>> Sarah: that's impressive that you didn't have to rehearse or do anything like that, but
ladies, even though -- Nikki, your character plays Edward's sister. you are actually not into the relationship at all. you're trying to break them up and Rachelle, we know Victoria is trying to break up this romance that's happening here.
>> I'm sorry, you guys.
>> I'm not sorry. Victoria doesn't apologize.
>> Sarah: what's up? why can't you leave it all alone? they're trying to be in love? they're trying to be happy.
>> I feel like my motivation is fair. my motivation is simple, man. a lover for a lover.
>> Sarah: yeah. that's true.
>> she's a realist. you know?
>> Sarah: o.k. and you would think your character -- it's kind of dark. there's a lot of tension, but you would think you would want your brother to be happy, but no. that's not happening.
>> I don't think he knows what's best for him.
>> Sarah: oh, I see what's going on. so I want to know a little bit about Victoria, Rachelle. by the way, even though we talked about it, we're all very happy that you are a Canadian vampire in the film. it's amazing.
[screaming]
>> thank you, guys. I love your support. it means so much to me. I'm just a montrealer.
how did I get here?
[cheers]
>> Sarah: Tim is outside in the middle of this "Twilight" craziness somewhere with an
audience question. Tim, what's happening?
>> tim: i'll here with Sarah who is an absolutely crazy fan. she's been here for hours and
she's dying to ask a question. what is your question?
>> o.k. my question is for Robert -- oh, my god. I'm sorry. I'm so nervous. I have been here since, like, yesterday. if you had the option to live forever like a vampire, would
you? why or why not?
>> I don't think I would. you know, I just feel like I've seen it all already. maybe when i'm like 32 i'd like to be immortal -- maybe.
>> Sarah: I think that answered the question. I heard that your decision to play Edward as a bit of a manic-depressive -- which I like that description. it's complicated. it's layered. but purgatory sounds depressing, right?
>> it is very depressing. I couldn't end up playing it as depressing as I wanted. why does that bring the screams up?
>> Sarah: they don't care what you say, Robert. they really don't.
>> there's not too many girls who think their ideal guy would be completely insane and a manic depressive. I just have weird tastes in guys.
>> Sarah: o.k. so we have these amazing polaroid cameras and the fans have been here waiting for you to get you to take a couple of photos with some of the fans. is that o.k. with you? yeah. so let's sign some autographs, i'll take some photos and you can say hello.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: where'd the camera go? somebody took it. o.k. i'm going to take a photo. let's get you with some of the fans and i'm going to take a photo. guys, we're going to take a
break. I know you know from the film edward cullen can read minds but who knew I could? i'll tell you what the cast of "Twilight" the thinking after this.
>> Sarah: welcome back to "Twilight" live@much. you guys did a little bit of musical chairs. it's crazy out there, but we want to call in the prophetic fallacy of the weather.
right now I want to ask you guys, what do you think is different about "Twilight" from
all the other vampire movies that have ever been made?
>> our vampires aren't just the villains. you get to see what it would be like to live like one of them. they're the protagonists, so we throw vampire convention out the window. they're real people.
>> Sarah: you get to find out what's going on with them and figure it out. but I notice with the vampires they don't really have fangs.
>> not at all, just rob. smile.
>> Sarah: I was noticing that. your teeth are a little bit vampiric.
>> I know. that's embarrassing. only reason I got the job.
>> Sarah: just a little bit. I think we have a web cam question standing by at the moment.
so, guys -
[screaming]
>> oh, my god. o.k.
>> Sarah: hi, girls.
>> all the "Twilight" cast is amazingly stunning and i'm pretty sure Robert pattinson, no
one else could play edward better than you could.
>> thank you. o.k. so our question is if you could have one of the vampire powers
from the book, what would it be and why?
>> is this for me? who's it for?
>> Sarah: for all of you.
>> if I could -- Rachelle, you should answer it first.
>> really? oh, my god. I don't know.
>> Sarah: if you could have any super power.
>> i'm kind of hung up right now on super strength. but I don't know. I wouldn't want to be able to read minds. that's the one I know i'm way too insecure to deal with that.
>> I want to see the future so I stop making so many mistakes.
>> Sarah: that one's scary, too. seeing stuff in the future.
>> i'm a control freak. so it would really well. I could shape my path.
>> you wouldn't know what to control.
>> I think I would want mind control over other people. I don't necessarily need to read
their thoughts, but i'd love to have control over them.
>> Sarah: that's a little controlling.
>> we're major control freaks.
>> all the vampire girls are type-A.
>> Sarah: Robert?
>> I prefer to have nothing at all. I feel guilty enough about everything. I don't want to have the responsibility.
>> Sarah: what do you feel so guilty about?
>> especially when you have tons of people and you have to live up to expectations and you have a superpower as well. i'm like hancock.
>> Sarah: we have heather in the audience and she wants to ask you a question -- hannah.
>> i'm right here. you're all amazing and so talented and Robert, you're gorgeous and I love you. my question is for all of you if you're going to make movies for the rest of the series.
>> we hope so. if you guys all see the first one, we will.
>> we want to make all the movies. we're going to need a little help from you guys.
>> Sarah: so this is a little bit strange, I know. I don't usually do this, but I can also read minds. i'm an intuitive empath. so I figured let's take a break from the craziness and do a
little game. are you up for it? it's really simple. I can read minds. I don't want to get into
anything personal.
>> do something personal.
>> Sarah: no, no, no. o.k.
>> what I want you to do -- don't laugh, Rachelle.
>> i'm confused already.
>> Sarah: it's fine.
>> please choose a card. put it in your head. don't tell anybody. keep it there. concentrate on it. do you have it?
>> yes.
[laughter]
>> Sarah: all of your cards are gone, aren't they?
>> that's a trick. I mean, it's like obvious what you did.
>> Sarah: just because you can obviously read minds doesn't mean --
[cheers]
>> I have mind control. I can make everybody think of the same number all together.
all the thousands of people that are here. want to see?
>> Sarah: yeah, do it right now.
>> pick a number, make it small so you can compute things. pick a number. double it.
small number so it's easy. double it. now add 14. now divide by two. whoever's with me, now subtract your original number. is everybody thinking 7?
[cheers]
>> told you!
>> Sarah: you have to hand it to the Canadian girls.
>> I went to McGill, baby.
>> Sarah: that was almost as good as mine. we're going to say hello to everybody at the window for a second. are you ready? they're waiting. let's go. hello, everybody. what's going on? what do you want to ask the cast?
>> I just wanted to ask rob - I wanted to know if you wrote "never think" for the "Twilight" movie or if it was just one of your prewritten songs.
>> Sarah: honey, he's way down there. come here! she wants to ask you a question,
Robert.
>> I wanted to know "never think" did you write it specifically for "Twilight" or
was it pre-written?
>> it was pre-written the year before.
>> cool, thank you.
>> Sarah: thank you. girls, i'm going to give you movie passes to give them to
anybody you want. the crowd, you can pass them out at your own discretion.
when we come back we'll give you an exclusive brand new clip of "Twilight" that nobody has ever seen. we have it next. Twilight live@much.
>> Sarah: this is Twilight live@much. we're back outside. you managed to make it without
having any of you ever clothes ripped off or anything like that. you're good. plus, you're here to protect each other as well. Tim is out there somewhere and he's got an audience question. Tim, what's happening?
>> Tim: i'm hanging out here with laura. laura is super excited to be here. how long have you been waiting?
>> since 8:00 yesterday evening and it has been freezing and I have been drenched all day, but it is so worth it to come and see you guys. every minute of it is worth it.
>> tim: that deserves a question. what do you want to say to the cast?
>> we're all obsessed with you guys and the movie coming out. what are you guys obsessed about?
>> Sarah: what is your obsession?
>> Rachelle, you have some marker on your forehead.
>> Nikki reed is my obsession.
>> nobody cares.
>> I'm obsessed with looking in the mirror.
>> Sarah: what do you think? what can you not live without? what are you obsessed with if you have to choose one thing. could be a book, movie, CD.
>> probably -- something I can't live without. I can live without pretty much anything.
I'm a really disgusting person. I can live without anything at all.
>> Sarah: you guys are travelling so much. what's the one thing you always take with you when you travel? is there one thing you always take with you?
>> toothbrush.
>> Sarah: that's a good one. definitely a good one. is this a trick question?
>> sorry that was such a bad answer.
>> I think it was good enough for them. this is a text question. I'm going to read it to you.
it's from Christine. she's from Windsor, Ontario. if you could write an additional chapter in "Twilight," what would happen and why? just one more chapter.
>> ooh --
>> that's a really hard question.
>> it is really hard.
>> you guys like the book how it is, right?
>> Rachelle?
>> yeah, Rachelle. the Canadian.
>> I don't know. I can't say because I have a confession to make. I am so afraid for the series -- I am so afraid to be done reading it that I have read everything except the last five pages of breaking dawn, because I don't want it to end. I'm waiting, so I can't say.
>> Sarah: they call that the pleasure delayer because you don't want to blow it at the
beginning. what about if you could choose Bella to have something else happen to her, what would it be?
>> oh, my god. what hasn't happened to her. dude, I don't know.
>> Sarah: we actually have a clip from "Twilight." do you guys want to see it?
[screaming]
>> Sarah: there it is. "Twilight". that's a scary one because you know some stuff is about to go down in that scene. it looked like the whole scene with the fighting, with the baseball looks like a good time. did you have a lot of fun on set? looks like you're really good friends at this point.
>> thank you. who said that? somebody said they love me and not rob.
>> Sarah: they all love all of you. I don't think you can fake that kind of chemistry, you know? it looks like you guys spent a lot of time together, got to know each other, had dinners and I heard rumours about karaoke. tell me it's true. I'm a huge karaoke fan. tell me it's true. did you bond over karaoke?
>> maybe in-room --
>> we did do karaoke. I sang "bump and grind".
>> Sarah: that's shocking.
>> for me to sing it --
>> I don't remember that.
>> Sarah: not a good singer?
>> it was just me and peter Facinelli. he's great.
>> Sarah: I'm going to give you a chance to give away movie passes because they want to see the movie. and I want to give you the passes and you can hand them out. how does that sound?
>> great.
[cheers]
>> Sarah: let's go hand them out. o.k., guys. we're going to hand you some exclusive free passes to go and check out "Twilight" in theatres. we have more coming up with the cast of "Twilight" after this.
>> Sarah: welcome back to "Twilight live@much". all right, guys. what was it like when you watched "Twilight" together? did you have a chance to see the movie together?
>> um, no.
>> no.
>> Sarah: you didn't see it?
>> I haven't seen it.
>> I haven't either.
>> have you?
>> I have seen it.
>> Sarah: how was it?
>> I'm proud of it.
>> when did you see it?
>> buddy, boy. I've got the in the way that you don't.
>> Sarah: Kristen's got the connections happening. I want to thank you so much. Rachelle, Nikki, Kristen, Robert. Thank you so much for coming by. We really appreciate it. you guys can give out more movie passes and say goodbye. Thank you very much.
>> thanks so much.
[screaming]
>> Sarah: come on down here. Nikki, here's yours. thank you very much. all right.
Rachelle, you are my Canadian girl. did you have a good time tonight?
>> oh, my god. I had such an amazing time.
[cheers]
>> Sarah: did you know Canadian fans were in love with you this much?
>> I had no idea. but "Twilight" deserves everything. any small part of it is just incredible.
>> Sarah: thank you so much.
>> thank you.
>> Sarah: thank you so much.
>> thank you.
